Taking an air-dried ash board (milled in Croydon, see story), I prepared the arm for bending. As you can see from "steam bending and new shelter", this did not go smoothly at first, perhaps as this board had become overly dry from being in a warm garage over the summer. A third attempt, with better stops for the bending strap, went much better. Top picture: marking out the board against the arm for cutting.
I've decided to make this into a knock-down chair, so through tenons for the legs. Working with planes and travishers etc. on the chair seat.
Preparing to drill the mortices for the spindles or "sticks".
Reducing spindles to fit.
I've needed to spend as lot of time on fitting spindles with spokeshave etc. as they were initially too long.
